Arranging a Funeral

From the first contact you or your family have with any branch of D.J. Screen & Sons, the Screen family or any member of their highly trained staff will aim to do there upmost to reassure you or your family that your exact wishes are met to the very highest of standards, it is always a funeral director's responsibility to ensure that every funeral meets the wishes of you and your family.

We will also ensure that the funeral is appropriate, dignified and at D.J. Screen & Sons all funerals will always be carried out in a professional and traditional manner.

D.J. Screen & Sons will firstly arrange for you or your loved one to be brought to our
National Association of Funeral Directors approved funeral home that has full mortuary
facilities and refrigeration. We will then arrange for a member of our staff to either
attend your home address or make our premises available to allow you to discuss in
most comfortable surroundings the wishes you would like us to arrange on your or
their behalf, hopefully in this meeting or shortly afterwards when we have your
availability we can confirm a date and time for the funeral after we have contacted
your chosen Church, Crematorium/Cemetery or the person you would like to
conduct the service.

Shortly after our meeting, you will be furnished with a confirmation of all the funeral
details and a full estimate* of everything you have requested for us to supply.
We can also place any obituary or acknowledgement notices in local or national
newspapers before and after the funeral, arrange for any floral tributes (catalogue
available upon request) to be made to your exact wishes and care for any floral
tributes sent to the funeral home prior to the funeral.
We provide vehicles with highly trained and uniformed staff to enable the funeral to
proceed with dignity, and in accordance with your instructions and to the highest of
standards, arrange for any music you have specifically requested to be played, or
hymns to be sung, arrange for the completion of any Order of Service programmes
and the distribution of these at either a Church service or the selected Crematorium.

After a cremation we can arrange for the collection of the deceased's ashes, these can
then be passed to the family or an appointment can be made to have the ashes strewn in
the Garden of Remembrance at the Crematorium.

*We require full payment no later than 4 days before the funeral or the funeral could be delayed.
