Direct Cremations have become increasingly popular in the UK, partially due to their affordability, but also because more and more people want the freedom and flexibility to plan a memorial or celebration-of-life ceremony at a later date.

A direct cremation (or sometimes referred to as an Unattended funeral) is the most affordable and simple funeral option, where the cremation takes place shortly after death, with no funeral service and no family or mourners present.

It is a dignified and cost-effective alternative to traditional funeral arrangements without compromising on quality service and care.

There are many reasons why people choose direct cremation over attended funeral services.  These may include:

  • There being no surviving family to attend a funeral

  • Being able to provide a more unique memorial service

  • For financial reasons, as these services are lower cost

  • If the deceased requested direct cremation

  • If the deceased was not a religious person

  • For simplicity, opting for a fuss-free, professional service

While no less heart-felt, there are of course some limitations of a direct cremation.  The service is unattended other than by our staff members.  Therefore, there is no service, readings or eulogies in advance.  Additionally, the package covers specific products, such as coffin type (upgrades are available for an additional cost).

However, you will have the freedom to commemorate your loved one in a method of your own choosing, and ashes will be returned to you to be kept or scattered as you prefer.

After the cremation takes places, we can safely hand deliver the cremated remains to you (if you live in the Kirklees/Calderdale area) or you may come along to our premises to collect them in person by appointment.   Alternatively, if you wish, the cremated remains may be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at a Crematorium.

The cost of our Direct Cremation is £1250.00.
